Lisa Renee Peterson was born in Harlem Hospital September 9, 1954. Lisa was the third child of Lester and Gladys Peterson who moved to Mariners Harbor Staten Island Her family moved to Staten Island in Mariners Harbor. There is where she attended Port Richmond High School. She was active in the community playing softball in an all-girls league, as well as other sports. She was an actress with the Neighborhood Youth Services putting on plays all over the five boroughs of New York City. Lisa learned to become an avid gardener and received a diploma as an Arborist. Her gardening talents were featured on the Community Channel "How to Care for Your Garden". She is a Jack of all trades which is why her sister Jeanette called her “MacGyver.”

She worked for several Housekeeping agencies throughout the years and was employed by the New York City Board of Elections for the last 20 years and rose to the title of Elections Coordinator. Lisa resided in West Brighton for over twenty years with her pets whom she loved.

As a natural comedian, Lisa always had jokes rolling off of her tongue and at the same time, expressed her big heart by being very caring and helpful. She was always there when you needed her. She also loved her family dearly because you can always find her at one of their homes playing her favorite game, bid whist, dancing, and telling jokes. Her favorite saying was “No fools no fun.” As the life of the party, Lisa was always the first one on the dance floor at family functions.

Poem by Elizabeth Frye                                                                          .

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sun on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there; I did not die.
