Lillian Brown Obituary

Lillian Brown, affectionately called “Nana”, was born to the late Samuel Brown and Azalie Brown on February 10, 1935 on Johns Island, South Carolina.  She and her family moved to Harlem NY where she was educated in the public school system and attended St. Luke A.M.E. Church.  She moved to the Bronx where she lived and raised her son.  Lillian was a buyer for the Wanamaker Department Store in Manhattan. In the 1970’s Lillian moved to Mariners Harbor in Staten Island NY, where she raised her three grandchildren.  In her later years she worked as an Insurance Agent for Columbian Mutual Insurance Company until her retirement.

Lillian was a classy and stylish lady.  She was always dressed to the nines and took pride in her appearance.  She was a talented pianist, and one of her favorite things to do was to play the piano and sing gospel songs at home. She was also an amazing cook and seamstress. She also had a no nonsense way about her and told it like it was.  Lillian loved attending church service and would read her bible faithfully. She loved and lived for the Lord.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her granddaughters, Chandra Woodley-Blake & Deidre Woodley-Henriquez; Grand Sons in law; Isaac Blake & Nicholas Henriquez;, Great-grandchildren;  Darance Gillard, Jade Young, Tamara Gillard, Savanah Gillard, Maya Blake, and Nicholas (Nico) Henriquez , one great great grand son, Zyaire Gillard, Sisters: Madeline Brown, Kim Mantock and Josephine (Helen) Farmer.  Her son Frank Woodley and grandson Frank Woodley, Jr. preceded her in death.  Lillian also leaves behind many nieces, nephews cousins and friends
