Obituary
Marion Patricia Rushmore, was born in Brooklyn, on February 2, 1949 to the late Harold Edward Rushmore Sr. and the late Lucille "Victoria" Fulton (Rushmore). She was the eldest of eight siblings. Marion, or "Pat" as she was lovingly referred to, was educated in the New York City School System, attending Staten Island's PS 44, and IS 27, before graduating from Port Richmond High School. Pat enjoyed laughing, dancing, and hanging out with her two childhood friends, Gloria (Carmona) Taylor, and Vera Liburd.
In the late 1960's Pat was dating Charles Harris, which resulted in the birth of her two sons, Lawrence Harris and Warren Rushmore -- two of her greatest gifts in life.
In the early 1970's Pat partnered with the late Carvin D. Young, who she later married. The two spent 33 years together, in life and love. Through her two sons, she had two grandsons, Khiry Slayton, and Warren Rushmore Jr. Through Khiry, she had two great-grandchildren, Skyy Slayton and Khiry Slayton, Jr.
Pat spent most of her working career in the Human Resources Department of Willowbrook Developmental Center. She also spent years working as a Lab Technician for the Institute for Basic Research. Later, she was a secretary for Gallo Law Firm, and after retirement, worked part-time as a clerk in Paul Miller Cleaners.
Pat was a faithful member of The International Christian Center (ICC) for many years, before relocating to Philadelphia. She had a heart of gold, and was a true family woman. Pat was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Throughout the years, she and Carvin opened their home to countless family and friends. She was also known for her cooking. Pat became the unspoken matriarch of the family, hosting many Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas holidays. As the oldest sibling, she became a mother figure to her brothers and sisters. This forged a strong bond with her nieces and nephews. Pat loved, and was loved, by everyone!
Marion Patricia Rushmore-Young, transitioned to be with our Lord, on the morning of July 10, 2019. Pat leaves her sons, Larry and Warren to cherish her memory, along with her grandchildren Warren Jr, and Khiry (Lateeka), and her great-grandchildren, Skyy and KJ. She also leaves her remaining brothers and sisters (and their spouses) Lucille Rushmore-Callendar (Dominic), Renee Callendar (Kojo), Harold Rushmore, Jr. (Judy), Lance D. Rushmore Sr. (Vilma), Ronique C. Richburg (Jerome), two more sisters-in-laws, Denise Harris (Rushmore), and Patty Dube, her aunts, Florence Murrell, Olivia Lewis-Lesley (Jeffrey), and Tina Fulton, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
