John Willie Moody (Johnnie Cake), son of the late Beatrice Ashley Moody and the late Alfonce Moody; was born February 17, 1950 and earned his wings December 19, 2020 at his home with his wife at his side. One daughter Najla Canise Moody, and one brother Willie James Moody, preceded him death.
John attended Kelly Edwards High School graduating class of 1967. At the age of 11 he joined Fairmount Missionary Baptist Church, Williston, SC. He loved to dance, play basketball, shoot pool, barbeque and play church at an early age as the preacher. He was an avid reader of the Word of God.
In 1993, Brother Moody was called to the office of Deacon and served faithfully for five years until the Lord called him to preach the Gospel in May 1998. Reverend Moody had a love for helping the less fortunate and always kept money in his automobile console for people who stopped his car to clean his windows.
Reverend Moody founded the Harvest Time Missionary Ministries under the banner of EBE; Evangelize, Baptize, Educate in the year of 2008 where he pastored approx1mately 150 sheep until the Lord called him home from labor to reward.
Those who will honor his life and to cherish his memories are his wife of 30 years Waldrette Moody. Five sons, John Willie Moody, Jr. (Bianca), Joshua Alfonce Moody (Mariah) of Perth Amboy, NJ, Benjamin Fitzgerald Scott, of Barnwell, SC, Jeffery Richarde Wilson (Yanira) of Brooklyn, NY, Josiah Kobina Owens of Greensboro, NC; Two daughters, Stacey Reddick of Chesapeake, VA, Chantale Arroyo of Tampa, FL. Mother-in-Law, Christine Newsome, Staten Island, NY. Nine Sisters, Albertha Brown, Augusta, GA, Loubertha Moody, Staten Island, NY, Deacon Hattie Bell Moody, Bensalem, PA, Pastor Reather Bell Kennedy, Grovetown, GA, Reverend Dr. Mae B. Frazier, Staten Island, NY, Marshelle White (Rommel), Chirvonne Newsome both of Staten Island, NY, Kaprice Bernard (Shamik), of Rahway, NJ, Deatrea Newsome, of DE. One brother-in-law, Jaye Sanders of Bridgeport Conn. Two God daughters Crisette Bernard & Tiajah Davian Lloyd, and one God son Tyree James Gibbons. A very special niece, Bridgette Chantel Sapp, of Staten Island, NY (who loved to wait on him hand and foot); Fifteen grandchildren; three of whom he has been instrumental in nurturing since birth; Jeremias, and twins Meadow and Marley. And a host of cousins and friends.
Congratulations Reverend Moody, you have received your crown of Righteousness.
