On, March 12, 2023, Peter Albert Gilmore, a loving father, brother, son, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend transitioned over at the age of 61.
Peter a/k/a Six Dreds was born on November 20, 1961, to Rebecca and Louis Gilmore in Staten Island, NY. Peter was raised in Mariners Harbor, Stapleton, and New Brighton. He was the fifth child of two sisters and three brothers, and a direct descendant of Sandy Ground, Staten Island, NY. Peter attended P.S. 44 and P.S. 31 Elementary Schools, IS 61 Junior High School, and graduated from Curtis High School.

Peter worked for IBK Construction, Nina Shoes, ABM, Lowes, and NYC Department of Parks & Recreation in many capacities. Peter earned certifications in Environmental Remediation Training, OSHA-10 Construction Health and Safety and General Industry Safety and Health, Bloodborne Pathogens Awareness, OSHA 40 HAZWOPER, Confined Spaces- Mold Remediation, EPA Lead in Construction, and Lead Renovator (RRP). Peter also earned New York State and New York City Asbestos Handler’s Licenses.
Peter touched many hearts and souls and is remembered as being the light-of-the-party. Whenever Pete showed-up he would bring joy, light, laughs, happiness, and music to his surroundings. Peter had an affinity for music and was the youngest member of the Brothers and Sisters United of Staten Island who went on to perform at the Lincoln Center in Manhattan. Naturally and musically inclined, Pete played the congos, piano, and guitar. During every family gathering there was Six-Dreds on the congos drumming up the ancestors and installing ancestorial knowledge and connections for the younger family members. Peter was deeply devoted to his family, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Peter is survived by his daughter, Imani, his sister, Doris Gilmore Owens, brothers, Eugene Louis and Islam Michael Gilmore, Aunt, Evelyn Bishop Mangin, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding Peter in death were his mother, Martha Rebecca Bishop Gilmore, Sister, Desiree Gilmore Rogers, Father, Louis Albert Gilmore, brothers, James Bishop and JP Gilmore, and Aunt Ella Mae Howell.

All deeply feel Pete’s absence. God says to be absence from the body is to be one with God. Let Peter live on through us.
