Ola Jean Zeigler, known by friends and family as “Ms. Jeanie”, was born in Sumiton, Alabama on June 17, 1937 to Prince and Katie B Hagler. She peacefully departed this life on February 2nd, 2022 at the age of 84 in her home. She graduated from high school in Sumiton, Alabama at age 17. After graduation she relocated to Brooklyn, New York where she met and married Jimmie Zeigler, who preceded her in death on September 3rd, 1997. They started and raised a family in Brooklyn, New York before relocating to Staten Island, New York in 1977. She worked at the United States Postal Service until her retirement.
Ms. Jeanie was known for her giving and loving personality. She loved her family whole-heartedly and would do anything in her power to fix any problems they might have. She welcomed everyone into her family and her home. She enjoyed praising the Lord at her church home First Central Baptist Church and she enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with friends at the local senior centers. She loved shopping at Western Beef and Shop Rite. Most of all she loved being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and was anticipating the birth of her first great great grandchild. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her words of wisdom, encouragement, crocheting, her delicious food and desserts, and her ability to make sure everyone left well fed and loved.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Jimmie, Kathie, Michael with his wife Simone, Bridget with her husband Jahking, and Veronica the mother of Latavia and Michael Jr. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Latavia with her husband Ron, Michael Jr. with his wife Chaitra, Javelle, Joy, and Jadecia. Her great grandchildren, Javahn, Tyra, Jahliyah, Tayahna, Avonte “Javelle”, Jada, Sanaa, Taron, Mikiya, Malaysia, McKenzie, and Michael Z. III. Ms. Jeanie was preceded in death by her son Ricky. She was the fourth of ten siblings and was preceded in death by James, Katie, Horace, Howard, Flora, and survived by Lorene, Robert, Bill, Ernest, and Prince Jr: A host of nieces, nephews, and caring family and friends.
