Norva R. “Vilna” McBurnie, aged 73 passed away on January 3rd 2024, from a chronic illness. Norva was born on October 14, 1950 in Trinidad W.I. and was adopted by Claris Desvignes when she was 9 days old and nicknamed Vilna. In 1972, she married Charles McBurnie and in 1973 had their first child named Josann. Her son Jamal would be born in 1988.
In 1976 Norva moved to the United States, specifically Brooklyn New York, with hopes of having a better life financially. Norva landed a job at Deloitte and Touche in 1982 where she would retire 30 plus years later. Norva was a great family woman and loving mother. She was a social, active woman who was deeply involved in caring for her grand pets.
Her family and friends will always remember her as a person who loved to laugh. You couldn’t hold up in a serious situation if you were sitting next to Norva. Norva is survived by her daughter, son, son in-law, grandchildren, great grandson, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and lots of friends who will truly miss her.
