Merlyn Claudine Craigwell

Merlyn Claudine Craigwell, whom everyone knew as Aunty Merlyn, died at age of 95 on Thursday December 3rd 2020, in Staten Island, New York. Merlyn was born on March 11th 1925 in Trinidad, to her parents Henry and Drucilla Craigwell.  She was the last of twelve children, all of whom have passed away. She was blessed with and survived by a beautiful, large extended family of nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins.
In 1965 Merlyn relocated to the Spanish-speaking country of Venezuela, to accept a position as a nanny with an American family,  even though she did not speak the language.  A few years later, she followed the family to New York City and was then able to become a US citizen.
Aunty Merlyn was a God-fearing, family woman and a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She enjoyed being around her family and friends. We will always cherish our warm memories of her, as the most fun loving, jovial person in the room.
Aunty Merlyn was beloved by her immediate and large extended family, including their friends. She is survived by her daughter - Leolyn Jones; her grandchildren and their spouses - Cheryl Jones-Felton, Ian Jones, Ebban Jones, Naomi Jones, Jeffers Felton and Nichole Rogers-Jones; her great grandchildren - Drucilla Jones, Xavier Jones, Gabrielle Alexis-Jones, Isaiah Jones, Angelica Jones, Timothy Alexis-Jones, Monet Felton, Nia Jones, Indira Jones and Darian Jones; and her great great grandchild - Brielle Moore.
