Our beloved family member, Lee DeShawn Calvin (Layquan), was called Home on May 27, 2023. He was 53 years old.

Lee was born on June 21, 1969, at St. Vincent's Hospital, on Staten Island, New York. He was born to Denise Rosetta Lee and Levi Maurice Calvin.

In life, Lee would go on to earn his GED, obtain critical vocational skills, and complete a semester of college. He aslo worked for a personal moving company.

Anyone who knew Lee knows the wonderful and indelible impact he had on others. He cared for people and had a beautiful heart. Lee carried himself with a quiet dignity. While growing up, he loved playing sports and formed long-lasting friendships throughout the community. After speaking with Lee, he would leave you with a sense of comfort, due to his down to earth demeanor and relational manner. Layquan was just your 'regular dude,' someone that you can talk to, who would listen to you, and who left you feeling that the time you spent with him was truly worthwhile.

"Lay is survived by his son, Lequan Best (Bush), his daughters, Sharaya Smith and Lequana Allen, and his grandchildren, Damiera, Dyasia, Noah, Jerome, Jayleen, and Gabrielle. He is also survived by his mother, Denise Lee, and his brothers, Ernest Lee, Jimmy Lee, his sisters, Nichele Felton and Denisha Lee, his aunts, Deacon Arline Edwards and Lavinia Forts, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Lay joins in the Heavenly realm his father, Maurice, and his paternal grandparents, Elsie and Levi Calvin, and maternal grandparents, Arline Crute and Reason Lee.

"Love is patient. Love is kind. It dies not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, bit rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

Rest eternally our Beloved Son, Father, Brother, Family Member and Friend. We love you and will miss you dearly.

God saw you were getting tired. A care of a different nature was to be so he put his arms around you and said come to me. With tearful eyes we watched you passed away.
