Joshua David Jones-Harris was born on October 30th, 1987, and would bring joy and new life to the mother GOD had chosen for him, the late Pastor Patricia E.
Harris. Joshua passed away on January 12th, 2023.
Born in Manhattan, Baby boy Jones was left in the hospital’s care by his birth mother. GOD had bigger plans for Baby Jones. A family that would love him as their own from the beginning. Baby Jones was chosen. A few weeks later he was placed in his adoptive mother’s arms and began his new journey as Joshua-David Harris—a name chosen by his Aunt, Deborah, his mom’s sister. His mother had a goal to love, foster, and take care of over 100 children. When she received Joshua and held him in her arms, she knew she would adopt him. He was her son, a gift from God.
While on Staten Island, Joshua attended P.S. 57 and the Hungerford School before moving to Scranton, PA with his Mom, where he graduated from West Scranton High School. Joshua had been presently residing with his niece, Nihemah Wilson.
Joshua brought nothing but joy and happiness to everyone around him. He loved the Lord with all his heart and knew how to pray. From the start, fell in love with the percussion section at church; especially the conga drums. Joshua mastered the tambourine; going through quite a few throughout the years. He would later play drums at his church, in Scranton. Joshua loved music. His favorites were 80s music and Gospel. His favorite singer was Fred Hammond.
As well as his love for music, Joshua loved drawing and painting. As a child, he drew and painted a picture of a dragon. His school had an art exchange program with students from Japan, and Joshua's painting was chosen to hang in an art gallery in
Japan. Joshua was also an excellent swimmer and bowler; earning himself trophies in both categories during High School, from participation in the Summer Special Olympics.
Another great love of Joshua’s was wrestling! Joshua was hooked the first time he saw the Rock come on the screen. One of the things he loved most and what became a tradition, was attending live WWE events with his niece, NeNe, for his birthday where he got to see his favorite wrestlers up close and personal. He also loved going to Amusement and Water Parks with his family.
Joshua had one of the biggest hearts, filled with love and happiness. He was willing to help and be of service to anyone in need. He loved GOD and his family. He loved being called Uncle Josh and Josh Boogie—a nickname given to him by his brother, Maurice. Joshua took his role as Uncle, seriously; loving the time spent with his nieces and nephews, the family time, and gatherings. Joshua’s life was as bright as the sun, bringing light, love, and warmth to those who loved him. Though he was a quiet person, a young man of few words, he greatly impacted the lives of those around him. He was a miracle.
When Joshua was an infant, doctors told his mother he would not walk or talk. His mother would not accept that report, decreeing that he would do both. And he did. Joshua proved that nothing was or is impossible for GOD.
Survived by his father, William Harris, and preceded in death by his mother, Pastor Patricia E. Harris, Joshua leaves to mourn his passing, his sister, Ruthe McDonald(Fox), his brother, Maurice Wilson, brother-in-law, John McDonald, nieces, Nihemah and Mia Wilson, Naya Fitzgerald, nephews, Arthur, Elijah, Ashton Wilson, Derrich Ramsey, grand- niece Mia Ramsey, aunts, Pastor Deborah McLoud, Nancy Williams, and uncle, Ellsworth Bishop, William McLoud, and a host of cousins, family, and friends.
