Henry Lee Newton, aka June, was the eldest son to the late Denver Lee and Bertha Lee Newton. He was born October 6, 1950, in Duplin County, North Carolina, and moved to New York at 17 after graduating from Douglas High School in Warsaw, North Carolina. He received his bachelor's degree in Finance from Baruch College and began his career working in banking before transitioning to The New York City Housing Authority. There, he received many awards and accolades for serving the community and mentoring young people before retiring as a Manager. Henry was a devoted Christian and received a certificate in ministry from the New York Theological Seminary and served on the Usher Board and Men's Praise Dance team at First Central Baptist Church in Staten Island, NY. He loved life and was quite the dapper debonair with his dashing suits, shoes, and eye-catching hats. Henry was always well-coordinated, even down to his socks. Some called him "hurricane" or “pit bull" Newton because of his booming voice and magnetic personality; he left his presence wherever he went. Henry was the epitome of a servant and cheerful giver. He would often visit the sick, send money and gifts to family and friends incarcerated or in need, and provided a place to live for young men who sought shelter. In addition, Henry enjoyed cooking, talking, driving nice cars, traveling, shopping, reading the newspaper daily and spending time with family. If you asked Henry, how are you doing? He would ecstatically respond, "I am blessed, highly favored, wellloved, and unstoppable in the mighty name of Jesus." Henry was a loving person and will be sincerely missed by all. He has touched many hearts in his lifetime. Henry departed this life on Sunday, May 9, 2021. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his two brothers Charles Newton and Earl Newton. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Linda, children Tamika Walters, Malcolm Walters, and Falyn Morales; Grandchildren: Juvanee Walters, Hakeem Walters, Daijore Walters, Moses Walters, Sincere Morales, Damien Walters, and Chloe Walters, Sisters: Mildred Marshburn (Carl), Patricia Morrisey (Larry) Edna Watkins and Denise Faison and, Brothers: Bernard Newton (Gwen) and Amos Newton. Aunts: Minnie Carson (Bernie), Ruby Bultron, and Lauretta Davis (Bernard), and Uncles: Charles James and Gene James (who was like a brother), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
