Elizabeth Joi Anne Taylor was born on April 23, 1969, in Unity Hospital, Brooklyn NY to parents Irving Taylor and Carmen Taylor-Beckett.  She attended all of her schooling in the borough of Staten Island, with the exception of the High School of Music and Art in NYC from 1983-1986.  Elizabeth graduated, with honors, from Susan Wagner High School in Staten Island in 1987.  Upon graduation, she became a receptionist at several businesses within New York City.  She also pursued her passion for music by studying under Ms. Lyles and Ms. Volante.  Elizabeth was a member of the Staten Island Borough-wide Chorus in the 80s. They performed at Carnegie Hall and for the NYS Governor and at Sandy Ground during their Musical Heritage Gospel Showcase.
Elizabeth Joi Anne Taylor was a great member of the Taylor and Singleton families.
Elizabeth was involved in knowing the Lord from a very early age.  She was baptized at Willowbrook Baptist Church in her teens.  She worshipped at Shiloh AME Zion Church and was as the lead singer in the children’s choir and later the adult singing choir.
Elizabeth was a social active woman and was deeply involved in signing, dancing, video movies, cheerleading, karate, church programs and hanging out with the rich and famous.
She enjoyed caring for people and loved playing with animals, especially stray animals.  Her family and friends will always remember Elizabeth as a bubbly, fun-loving, generous and caring person.
Elizabeth spent the last eight years of her life at the Staten Island Care Center where the staff was very caring and loving to her.
Elizabeth is survived by her father Irving Taylor, mother Carmen Taylor-Beckett, and 3 loving sisters, Judy Singleton, Maureen Jackson, and Connie Sealy, and aunts Anne Eason, Grace Hemby, and Rose Singleton, and uncles Charles Singleton, James Singleton (Corrine) and David Singleton.
Funeral is scheduled for 1pm-4pm on May 17, 2023 at International Christian Center, 1501 Richmond Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10314, Pastors Richie Cruz and Rev. Yvonne Stradford will officiate.  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Elizabeth’s life.
