Cory Dawkins Obituary

Cory Michael Jeffrey Dawkins, 40 of Staten Island, New York died peacefully on December 7th, 2020.

 He was born on Staten Island on November 4th, 1980 to Michael Dawkins and Denise A. Grady.  Cory was special from the birth… He was born at home and on Election Day when Jimmy Carter/Ronald Regan were running for the presidential seat.  The EMT guys asked if he would be named Jimmy Carter Ronald Regan.

Cory attended Assumption School, I.S. 61 and graduated from Port Richmond High School.  Cory also attended Long Island University.

Cory was a Veteran of the US Marines serving in Operation Enduring Freedom in 2003. Cory was employed with the Police Department – School Safety Division from, 2004 until his death. 

Cory was a great son, brother and friend to all who met him.  In his youth, he attended Stapleton UAME Church. Cory was always the jokester and very knowledgeable about everything.  He enjoyed playing basketball and football with his friends, He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and friends. Cory loved wrestling, movies, going to the comicon and just being himself. His greatest passion besides rooting for the home teams (NY Giants, NY Yankees and NY Knicks) was eating and posting his opinions on his Facebook. If anyone wanted to know of a good restaurant to eat at….they would call on Cory. Cory left an impact on everyone he met. Cory had his favorite spot… at his favorite place… Down The Hatch, located in Manhattan. Cory left his mark on everyone and he will be truly missed.

He is survived by his parents Michael Dawkins and Denise A. Grady(Johnnie) of Staten Island, sisters Nichollee Grady & Tonya Sterling of Virginia, Aniyah Dawkins of Staten Island,  brothers Michael Dawkins, Marcus & Philip Grant of Staten Island, nephews Dennis Porter III and Elijah Jenkins & Trejon Wiliams of Virginia, nieces Anandah Porter, Laylani and I’yana Jenkins, Azziza and Zakeia Washington of Virginia, Maternal grandmother Virginia Grady of Staten Island, Paternal grandmother Mary Louise Dawkins of South Carolina, Aunts Phyllis Dawkins Ford(Floyd),Julia and Carolyn Graham all of South Carolina and Susan Grady-Clark of New Jersey, Uncles Joseph and Scott Grady of California, David Briggs of Staten Island and Dennis Grady(Charmaine)of New Jersey. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Joseph Grady, his uncles Jeffrey and Donald Grady, Ruffin Dawkins and Aunt Sharon Grady. He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of close friends and family.

A Funeral is scheduled for Friday, December 18th. Viewing 9am – 11am followed by a service 11am – 12pm service.
