Carl Raymond Watts was born on October 2, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY to the late John and Juanita Watts. He was united in holy matrimony to Gina Watts on June 7, 1985. Carl began his eternal life on July 14, 2023 from his forever home on Arnold Street.
Carl earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Early Childhood Education from The City College of New York (CCNY). His career as an elementary school teacher spanned over 3 decades between Brooklyn and Staten Island. For several years, Carl was a union rep for the United Federation of Teachers (UFT). Carl retired from teaching in 2013. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force and a firm believer of equality and the right to vote.
Carl was the neighborhood dad that everyone came to know and love. Anyone who knew Carl knows that he absolutely loved the Lord, his family, and music. He was a long time member of Bridge Street AME church in Brooklyn prior to moving to Staten Island. Carl operated his own radio program called Something Anything Radio which continuously played a multitude of musical genres ranging from Soul, R&B, Pop, Gospel, etc.
Left to cherish many memories is his devoted and loving wife, Gina; sons, Alvin and Zachary; daughter, Amy; sisters, Brenda Watts-Larkin and Vicki Watts; brother, John; late brother, Jerry; sisters-in-law Sharon Kitchings, Leeora Massengill, and Katha Blackwell; brothers-in-law, Tyrone Larkin, Gerald Massengill, and Eric Blackwell; Godbrother, Eric Goodman; nieces, Tonaya Watts, Nyenye Kitchings, and Staci Pearson; nephews, Anthony Watts and Chas Pearson; and many beloved family, friends, former co-workers, and students.
