Benjamin C. Woods was born on September 28, 1935 a native of New Bern, North Carolina to the late Mary Ann Carter and late Curtis R. Woods.

Benjamin·graduated  from West Street High School in New Bern, North Carolina; received his early Christian training at Clinton Chapel A.M.E. Zion Chur h and was a member there until he moved to  Brooklyn, New York in 1953.  Benjamin joined the First A.M.E. Zion Church under the pastorate of Dr.. William Orlando Carrington in 1962. He was a Class Leader for Class #17 & #18; and was a member of the Steward Department where he served as General Claims Secretary. He was a member of the North Carolina Club and enjoyed singing with the Male Choir.

Benjamin graduated from Heffley and Browne Business College and New York City Community College, majoring in Business Administration. He retired in 1998 as a Full Charge Bookkeeper from a major wholesale manufacturer.

Benjamin fraternal affiliations: Waswith the Grand United Order of Odd Fellows. He serves as Permanent Secretary of Faith Lodge #11784; Grand Secretary of Past Grand Master Council No. 1 and a member of the Three Link Marching Club Of Brooklyn.
