Affectionately known to family and friends as “Delia” or “Titi Delia”, Delia was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico on May 20th, 1930. She came to the United States as a young woman and immediately found work as a seamstress in a doll factory. Delia married, raised her three sons in Manhattan and worked her entire life. After the death of her older son, she moved to Staten Island to live with her younger sisters and brother-in-law, bringing along her faithful companion, Sagwa, a mixed breed dog who adored her.
Delia enjoyed sitting on her terrace amongst her many plants, going to the beach with family, and participating in endless family celebrations. She particularly enjoyed going to the movies and treating herself to a cold Corona at a restaurant after the movies. She was a woman of few words, but her facial expressions spoke volumes. She was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Titi Delia was greatly loved by all her family and friends and will be sorely missed by all. Rest in Peace.
