Dearest Houston Family,
On behalf of International Christian Brotherhood (ICB) & It's Chaplain Team, I herby offer heartfelt and deep condolences in regard to Walter Houston's Passing. Please know that though we did not know Walter Personally, He was in our thoughts and Prayers the moment Brother Michael Houston informed us he was ill.

Be encouraged that Walter belonged to God who gave his Family & the rest of us the opportunity to know & be known...Love & be Loved by Walter. God has numbered all of our days and knows when He wants us to come Home to be with Him. Since God is Life incarnate...when his Spirit & Word is in us, death cannot have the final victory. The Bible says that body returns to the dust, but the Spirit returns to God who gave it...but the soul who's been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ & Forgiven of Sins Shall live forever. This is the Victory we are believing God for in regard to the Soul of Walter Houston, that his absence from his body...Means he is Present with the Lord. Houston Family, please be comforted with these truths from the Word of God:

Isaiah 26:19 (NLT)
"But those who die in the Lord will live;
their bodies will rise again!
Those who sleep in the earth
will rise up and sing for joy!
For your life-giving light will fall like dew
on your people in the place of the dead!"

1 Corinthians 15:53-55 (NIRV)
"Our natural bodies don’t last forever. They must be dressed with what does last forever. What dies must be dressed with what does not die. In fact, that is going to happen. What does not last will be dressed with what lasts forever. What dies will be dressed with what does not die. Then what is written will come true. It says, “Death has been swallowed up. It has lost the battle.”
“Death, where is the victory you thought you had?
Death, where is your sting?”

With Love,
Chaplain James Brown

Walter was very special to me. At one point he lived with me. He stayed a while to protect me from the abuse I was facing. His boxing skill would of definitely come in handy. He took me to work and was there when I got off. We went to church and studied the bible together, he was quite the debator. He even got me eating egg foo young, which tasted better than it looked. He helped teach me how to drive, even though I scared him so bad going down a one way street. He looked after my children as they were young at the time. He comforted me as I cried from life traumas. When I was confused in what I thought was love he would always say " love is a splendid thing" and laugh. No matter what he was dealing with he stayed strong and positive.

We stayed in touch, but not as often like years past. He loved his children and tried to be a good father. He loved his mom Gisbatine Houston and siblings Aaron Houston, Pat Houston, Mike Houston Sr. Felicia Edwards-Noel, Charlie Houston, neices/nephews - Geneva Rose Houston, etc.. I reminise on the trials and victories we shared together. He knew the Lord and he loved praise and worship. Walter, I can't call you to update you any more. You are now one of the great cloud of witnesses watching and waiting for us to surrender to the Most High God. I love you and will miss you!

My prayer is for the family, loved ones and friends to be strengthen with might though this season knowing that we can do all things through Yahusha (Christ) who gives us strength.

Shalom my cousin, my friend. Till we meet again...

233 pages was the first book that I read that was that long. It was called Mrs Frisby and the rats of Nimh. Bright orange cover with a rat riding a crow as the illustration. That summer I was staying with Niel and Allison and you told us that we had to do a book report. I kept procrastinating and Allison was complaining and Niel was used to it. Interesting combination indeed. I was looking in their bookshelf searching for something and then I came across the book. I was like whatever, its something, but as I kept reading I became engulfed in it. I remember reading it every chance that I got. It was because of you Uncle Walter that I fell in love with reading. I remember our philosophical talks especially about race and how I would refer to white people as “white people” and you refer to them as “Europeans” Your political correctness was outstanding. It was because of you that I learned when to become political correct when the time calls for it. Whether you realized it or not, you imparted principles on not just me but everyone. You had such a subtle way of sliding some gems of knowledge that it hits you when the time is right. I can say for certain every time I use the word European, you’re the first thought that comes to mind. You had a laugh that was steady in pitch. I used to imitate it because I found it amusing. It was a laugh that made me laugh. The joy in it brought joy around. Rarely angry, always smiling, Uncle Walter your very humble nature has always touched my heart and for that I am so very grateful. I love you and may you watch over us all.

Love your nephew,
Michael Houston

It's been awhile, since 1986, my eyes have placed you. But, I never forgot. We grew up under the same " Licking Stick of Life" you and my brother Teddy Cress battled every other week with a brick in each of your hands. His first words when he heard was" This one hurt him" you leaving so suddenly. I said to myself Wow. "Two Gun" I was watching T.V. the fights and the announcer said next fight Walter Houston, man I lost my mind. I made everybody I could get my hands on in my Army unit to watch..Yeah, I was proud. Not everyone get stand in the square jungle. The commentator said if Mr.Houston don't get it together this round it's a wrap. You came out of one of those corner or all of them. Announcer jumped up and said Look at "Two Guns" Go. It look like you had about 4 arms and I am sure I saw you kick him too. R.I.P " OUR TWO GUNS"

Walter was such a beautiful person, inside and out. Always went out of his way to say hello to me at work. Always knew my name even though we saw each other sporadically through the years. A true gentleman...kind...caring... pleasant to be around and most importantly, he always remained positive. SIUH sure lost a wonderful employee and wonderful man. Walter- may you rest in the sweetest peace and suffer no more. My condolences to the family and may prayer and love help you all through this difficult time.
