Aysia Lynn Chambers, daughter of Gerald Howard, Sr. and Beth Chambers and, granddaughter of the late Deacons, W. C. Howard and Harry A. Chambers, was born January 16, 1993 in Staten Island, NY.  She grew up in the West Brighton section of Staten Island with her mother and oldest brother, James Chambers until her transition.

            Aysia attended and graduated from PS 19; attended IS 27 then   transferred to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Benedicta to complete her Jr HS education.  Aysia then attended the Nursing Program at Curtis High School and graduated with her LPN in 2011.  She then chose Buffalo State College for the next 6 years and made the Deans List several times before earning her B.S. in Speech Pathology in 2015.  She also earned an Award for Academic Excellence in Speech-Language Pathology (2016, 2017) and, an Award for Clinical Excellence in Speech-Language Pathology.  On May 13, 2017, Aysia crossed the stage to receive her M.S. of Education in Speech Pathology with a 3.9 average. She was set to begin her dream job after recently securing a position as a clinical fellow with Infinite Services as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Brooklyn, NY.

            Aysia enjoyed dancing, singing, traveling with her close friends and loved her entire family.  She had plans to visit Jamaica later this month and Costa   Rica in July.  Aysia was an active member of St. Philips Baptist Church where she was a member of the Sunday School Youth Choir, Junior Usher Board and Praise Dance Ministry before leaving for college.  Aysia will be missed by so many, including her family, SPBC family, tight circle of longtime friends.  She had an infectious soul and anyone who was blessed to know her LOVES her.

“Aysia always wore a great big beautiful smile that warmed your heart. She was also a beauty, inside and out. A light in our family.  Even her dog, Jayla loved her unconditionally. Our Aysia will be missed dearly.” Quoted her maternal aunt, Joy Jackson.

She is survived by her parents, Gerald Howard, Sr. and Beth Chambers; her paternal grandmother, Georgia Howard and maternal grandmother, Lucy V. Chambers; Sandra Howard, her 2nd mother; her brothers, James Chambers and Gerald Howard, Jr.; her sister, Nija Howard; her uncles, Trevor Chambers (Delana) and Warren Howard, Sr.; her aunts, Joy Jackson (James), Kindra Norwood (William), Elizabeth Mathes (Robert), Mayfern Howard, Mauleen Gomez and Glenda Johnson; her beloved cousins, Valerie Arroyo, Vincent Arroyo,  Tiana White, Alana Norwood, Jazmyn Norwood, Tremaine Chambers,  Tirell Chambers, Tierney White, Dana Howard, Robert Mathes, III, Briana Mathes, April Anderson, and Warren Howard, Jr.; a world of great friends, including her special friends, Morgan Taylor, Justine Daniels, and Giselle Santos.
