Janice Marie Davis was born on July 25th, 1950, in Manhattan New York, daughter to Mary Davis, being one of 6 six children. Janice was an outspoken child, her no nonsense attitude made her someone you didn't want to mess with. She had a witty sense of humor and Diva style. Janice favorite phrases were "My Question to you is?" and we can't forget "Don't mess with my kids, Don't mess with my money‚ Don't mess with my food".
Janice was a woman who loved her family, her unwavering commitment to them only made her more special. Mother to Shantel, Nicole, Tyesha, Matteo, and Stephen. There are 8 other people in this world that she loved even more than her children. Her grandchildren Antonio, Ayana, Tyasia, Tyra, Kayla, Nycere, Legend, and her Great Granddaughter Sanaa. Janice would say they warmed her heart dearly. Janice had to endure the death of her oldest child; she lived with heartache and sorrow. Until God brought Ronald Smith also known as Smitty into her life. With the support of her children, grandchildren and Smitty's love, Janice was able to carry on and accept her loss. Life was full again. She loved hosting holiday dinners, birthday parties and BBQ's. Cooking was her passion, Janice would have tables full of food she prepared all by herself. Seeing her family and friends come together brought her so much joy.
After years of mastering her talents as a chef she retired from Long Island University in 2016. But with life there is death, Smitty the love of life (she loved to call him) passed way. Janice again had to endure heartache and loss. Her faith and strength was tested yet again. This time she was able to ease her pain by focusing on her children and grandchildren. Celebrating birthdays, graduations, and family vacations made her life worth living.
Janice joins her Mother Mary Davis, brother Charles, sisters Mercene, Brena, Charlene, her eldest daughter Shantel, and the love of her life Ronald Smith. She leaves behind her brother Clarence also known as Uncle Bubba, her remaining 4 children, 8 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grand, and 1 unborn Great Grand on the way. Also with a host of Niece’s and Nephew’s from Boston to Virginia, as well as friends.
