Shanda Felice Scott was born November 3rd, 1974 to Michael Hamilton and the late Sandra L. Scott in Brooklyn, N.Y.. Shanda spent her formative years growing up on Staten Island. She attended public schools in her neighborhoods including P.S. 20, P.S. 57, I.S. 27 and graduated from Port Richmond High School. She also completed classes at Manhattan Community College.

Shanda was doubly blessed that when her mother and grandmother, Betty Hamilton, could no longer care for her, her cousin, Karen Moon, (who preceded her in death) stepped in and raised Shanda to adulthood.

The joy Shanda’s life was her only child, a son Kaseem who was born on December 4th, 1994.

Shanda was a warm and loving person. She worked for most of her adult life supporting youth in the mother and child house and challenged adults within group home settings. She took pride in making sure that her clients were well taken care of. Most recently she worked with the LifeSpan organization as a cook/housekeeper and sometimes had to accompany clients to appointments and filled in where she needed.

Shanda was a social butterfly with a great sense of humor. She loved spending time with family, friends and her life partner Sy. She earned her nickname honestly as she was avid billiards player and a member of numerous billiards teams. Shanda, also known as Stixx, was the one to try to beat on the pool table. Many also knew her as a resident bartender at Jonesy’s Tavern and Buddy’s Wonder Bar. She loved to sing karaoke and have a good time.

Shanda was a team player as well as a hard worker and made a great addition to Shaolin Ryder Motorcycle Club Family.

Shanda’s beautiful life will be forever cherished in the lives of her family. She is survived by her son Kaseem Scott, her father Michael Hamilton, her three sisters Andrea Hamilton, Delitha Hamilton, Tisha Woods, her brothers Yasin Abdur Rashid, Marcus Brown, Michael Woods, Marcus Hamilton, her aunts Elizabeth Scott, Lorraine Scott, Gussie Scott, Theodora Cross, Melody Ponton, her uncles Edward Scott, Jr., Andrew Scott, Kurt Hamilton, loving partner Sy Clay and a host of loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Miss Me But Let Me Go

And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little-but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared

Miss me-but let me go
For this is a journey that we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home
When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me but let me go.
