Robin Sheree Allen

Eulogy of a Free Spirit

Robin was born to Robert and Sherli Allen on September 23, 1965 @ Dow AFB Bangor, Maine.

She was a world traveler by the time she was five years old having lived in Utah, a year in England& Spain, spending time in France & Germany. Leaving Europe in the early 70’s Robin and her Mom resided in Brooklyn where she attended several Catholic Schools before moving to Staten Island. While growing up in Brooklyn, Robin joined the Girl Scouts, sang in kiddie choirs, and attended Sunday School at one of the local Churches.  In Staten Island, she attended St. Peter’ Girls High School, and was a participant until graduation in an Upward Bound program at Wagner College.  It was a program that introduced students to life away from home while preparing them for the rigors of College life.  Somehow Robin did not get the memo as she kept finding her way back home each time!  Graduating in 1982, Robin then attended Pace University for Business Management in Retail. Always having her sights on higher things, after several years in Retail, she decided to move on.  She became employed at channel 13 for many years as a business manager recruiting potential clients.

In 2000, Robin gave birth to her only child…Camryn Allen.  At the same time, she returned to school to pursue a career in Facilities Management. Graduating in 2006 Robin later began working in HVAC Dept. of NY Methodist Hospital for several years before becoming ill.  It should be noted Robin was a trail blazer in her field as many women had not yet begun entering that type career which was predominantly occupied by men. That was who Robin was…Robin was adventurous and goal driven and always up for a challenge.  The love of her life has always been food having been a gourmet cook for years. Yet when Camryn was born she had to change gears, noting healthy was best for them both. She had many friends and loved to party at the “Garage” back in the 80’s.  Her bubbly personality and ability to converse with almost anyone was only a small part of her dynamic personality.  Anyone who knew her knew she had strong will and was fiercely independent.

As Camryn began in her pursuit of higher education, Robin became more involved in school activities and served on the Community Education Council @ Curtis High School. She was also a Voter Registration representative and was passionate about her civic service.  In earlier years, she and her daughter worshipped at Mt. Sinai’s Brownell Campus in Stapleton under the leadership of Bishop Larkins.  Robin had a strong affinity with Bishop Larkins often referring to her as “Mother”.

Her Hobbies were knitting, reading, planting, watching HGTV and every food show available looking for new and exciting recipes.

Robins greatest joy was being a parent to her daughter and raising her to be the fine young lady that she is. Camryn was her pride and joy; the two breathed as one that’s how close they were. Robin effortlessly steered her daughter in the path of upward mobility as she had been given.

Robin leaves` behind to morn, her devoted Mother Sherli Allen and Step-Father Ronald, Daughter Camryn and long- time companion Keith Armstrong, Godfather Teddy, Aunts/Uncles, a host of Cousins, Friends and devoted colleagues.
