Juanita Green

Juanita Green, born in Augusta, GA on September 5, 1944, daughter of the late Junior Gilbert and Gertrude Lawrence. Juanita entered into rest on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Staten Island Care Center where she resided for the past five years after battling many health challenges.
Juanita was proceeded in death by her three sisters Lillie Foster, Dorethea Holyfield, and Geneva Jones; one brother James Lawrence.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter Iris Denise Gilbert and son Rashon Green; two sisters Eula Martin and Odessa Gilbert; one brother Larry Gilbert; niece and goddaughter Kimberly Burgess; godchild Ashley Gibbs, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Also, a devoted cousin Helen-McCarroll.
Juanita graduated from Lucey Laney High School in Augusta, GA in 1962. She was a native Staten Islander, after moving to New York when she 19 years old. She worked at Seaview Rehabilitation Home as a nurses aid for 37 years. She retired in 2002. After retirement she spent her time as a home health aid. She was a faithful servant of Port Richmond Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses for 18 years. She symbolized her dedication by being baptized in 1999 as a Jehovah Witness. Even during her illness she held on to her faith.
In her spare time, Juanita enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family. She will be truly missed.
