John Alvarez, 70 was born in the Bronx, New York on February 9th, 2017. At the age of five, he moved to Staten Island to reside at the Willowbrook State School now known as SIDDSO. Jim Stanley who has known John since his teen years shared a story when John was living with a family care provider, they had a baby and John hooked up an intercom around their house. John always wanted to live life and have a family. John loved children and would call Jla his baby and Sean his brother.

John had many friends, he also worked as an auto mechanic in New Jersey where he lived with his wife and mother in law. I have known John for over thirty years and know how fond he was of flirting with all of the pretty women. Though he enjoyed flirting, John was a kind and gentle soul and never meant any harm. John went on to become a successful electrician at SIDDO and loved helping the "elderly women" as John never saw himself as "elderly". He enjoyed helping others with their cars or electrical problems as well as collecting electronics. John's wife, Jeri Michelle Cook-Alvarez, sadly preceded him in death back in 2004. John leaves behind to cherish his memory his dear friend Denise Boyd, and a host of coworkers and loved ones.
